Let's suggest 96/ Taking it easy 42
Message de here4u posté le 31-10-2025 à 15:00:06 (S | E | F)
Hello dears,

Another easy exercice that everyone can do! Let's write together...

1) Do you celebrate Halloween?

2) What do you have to be grateful for, recently?

3) Do you practise a sport regularly?

4) What would your favourite Xmas present be this year?

Go for it! with THE FORCE.

Hello dears,

here's the first ANSWER (the second one is already waiting in line...)

ANSWER A: please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy.

I have never been attracted by High-Sport nor competition. I have always hated running behind a ball. I can't stand violent sports either. During my adolescence I rode a small mare with whom I took great pleasure in taking long hikes in the countryside. With my sisters, we had fun canoeing on the river. I have always loved riding a bike. All this was more distraction than diligent sport.
But still I have been maintaining my body with physical exercise. Currently, every day I have my routine: "half an hour of swimming, one hour of walking, and half an hour of fitness." I work especially with breath and flexibility. I do not go beyond my strength, and do not seek performance; it suits me well like that. Sport is just in order to keep me healthy.

for your help.

Hello dears!

No more suggestions?

ANSWER B: please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy.

3) Do you practise a sport regularly?
I love sport. All of them, except dangerous ones and some sports that I find a little bit boring like swimming. Training gets me as happy as, in my childhood, when I was playing in the school playground. I try to practice as regularly as possible, but, like many people, I may have obligations more essential. Regretfully, I give up on training. I happily get back into the habit as soon as my schedule opens up, sometimes much later, because sport gets me feeling better physically and mentally.

Thanks for your help!

Dans word reference, je trouve l'exemple "I had to give up on going on vacation."

* In French, "plus essentiel" is considered incorrect because something can be "essentiel" or not, but not "plus ou moins essentiel". I don't know whether it's the same in English.
Dans word reference, je trouve l'exemple "I had to give up on going on vacation."

Hello dears,

Here are the corrections of your ANSWERS and a reminder that you can always change what you don't appreciate in them. As usual, you can also write your Follow Up Work if you want to.

ANSWER A: initial text and my indications.

Quite a pleasant and well-written text.

Answer B: alouettelulu's answer and my added comments! :Thank you for these precisions, Gerold.

3) Do you practise a sport regularly?

I love sports, all of them, except dangerous ones and some sports that I find a little (bit) boring like swimming. Training gets me (as happy as in my childhood, when I was playing in the school playground)(1). I try to practise as regularly as possible but, like many people, I may have more important obligations.(bon ordre des mots) Regretfully, I often give up training.(2) I happily get back into the habit as soon as my schedule opens up,(3) sometimes much later, because sport makes me feel better physically and mentally.

(1) Sorry, but I find this sentence clumsy (though grammatically correct!)… : as happy as I used to be, as a child, when playing…

(2)‘…I give up on training. )

(3) [sometimes much later, because sport gets me feeling better physically and mentally.]

- To practise a regular sport/ a regular sporting activity/ a regular activity/ regular exercising/
Difference between "Give up" and "Give up on" ' Give up on carries the definite implication that you stopped doing something because you found it too difficult or stressful.'
Lien internet

- «Regretfully, I often give up training, (yet I happily get back into the habit as soon as my schedule opens up », (Là, point !)
- une phrase incluse: sometimes much later, because sport makes me feel better physically and mentally.
- sometimes much later, :. Resuming exercising may take a little time/ quite a long time (c’est toi qui vois). It’s a pity, because «practising sports on a regular basis makes me feel better physically and mentally."
