Let's suggest 103/ Taking it easy 49
Message de here4u posté le 17-02-2026 à 18:12:41 (S | E | F)
Hello dears,

Another easy exercice that everyone can do! Let's write together...

1) Should we forgive everything?

2) Are you a film-lover? Speak about your favourite film.

3) What shocks you when you listen to/ or watch the News?

Go for it! with THE FORCE.

Hello dears!

Answer A: topic 3: please indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you.

What shocks you when you listen to or watch the news?
In particular, what shocks me are the assaults, which involve adolescents, for example: when I hear that a 14-year-old kid came to school with a knife and killed a teacher? I am shocked when a reporter talks to us about a teenager who drove a stolen car without a driver's license, had fled from the police who were chasing him; a car accident happened. The young man was killed or seriously injured and the police had been criticised.
So many broken lives, these of the guilty as well as innocent people and the respective families' lives are destroyed too. I imagine the pain of parents, siblings and friends ... Not only am I shocked but I can't understand how or why some young people reach such a high level of bad behaviours.

for your help!

Hello ! Je pensais avoir posté une première réponse avant celle-ci... Je ne retrouve rien... (A part Happynutmeg, dont j'ai bien la réponse, si vous m'avez envoyé un texte, merci de vous manifester...

Hello!

Answer A: topic 3: please indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you.

What shocks you when you listen to or watch the news?
In particular, What shocks me in particular are the assaults offences/crimes*, which/that** involve adolescents, for example: when I hear that a 14-year-old kid came to school with a knife and killed a teacher. I am shocked when a reporter talks speaks (to us) about a teenager who drove a stolen car without a driver's license driving licence , had fled from the police who were chasing him; a car accident happened. The young man was killed or seriously injured and the police had been was criticised (as there is no anteriority, I think the pluperfect is not justified).
So many broken lives are broken, these of the guilty as well as the innocent (people) and the/their respective families' lives are destroyed too. I imagine the pain of parents, siblings and friends ... Not only am I shocked but I can't understand how or why some young people reach such a high level of bad behaviours.

* We need here a more general word (driving a stolen car is not an assault)
** No comma, because it is a restrictive clause (relative déterminative) that modifies the noun that precedes it in an essential way and cannot be removed. Moreover, some contend that only "that" is correct in a restrictive clause, "which" should be used only in a non-restrictive clause (relative explicative).

Hello dears,

Thanks a lot for the corrections and suggestions about ANSWER A. Here is ANSWER B (as there's already an ANSWER C waiting in line...)

ANSWER B: Topic 2: Please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you.
Are you a film-lover? Speak about your favourite film.

As a film-lover, I am particularly fond of Blade Runner, adapted by Ridley Scott from Philip K. Dick's sci-fi 'Do androids dream of electric sheep'. In short: In a futuristic and post-apocalyptic world, Androids are robots made and trained to act like humans. A bunch of five has escaped, and the heroe's job is to 'retire' -destroy- them. The film describes their pursuit. You may find it dark and sometimes violent, but in some way I see in it a tribute to life and its impermanence : Androids have a specific, programmed lifespan; they don't know how long they will last, which makes them strangely close to us... I love it too because of the fantastic music, for it is totally in harmony with the film : it haunts you from the beginning until the end, and I can't think of the film without its powerful soundtrack.

for your help!

ANSWER C: please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you...
Should we forgive everything?

When we don't forgive the wrong we were victim, we memorize it. We nurture resentment.
Grudge encourages us to be wary towards those who have harmed us. But it doesn't allow us to forget and keeps on hurting us. That puts us up in a position of victim.
To forgive is to admit that the other people are imperfect, like us. It's a first step towards forgetting. We free ourselves from the the status of victim.
We need to stay realistic and ready to defend oneself. But understanding and forgiving is a slow work which does good the one who give it, as the one who get it. It is a choice that is worthy thinking about.

Thanks for your help.

* We need here a more general word (driving a stolen car is not an assault)[ but it is an offence!]

Ici, il n’y a pas de problème si l’on met ce qui viendrait naturellement «offences involving adolescents;

Un très bon texte !
It was a very good text, looking very much like a movie review. I'm quite biased about it (meaning here that I look at the words you've written, find them good, but have taken them out of their substance, their meaning...) I CAN'T BEAR science fiction books and films...
Yet, I've tried to be seduced by the music, which you said was so good, haunting, (it was sounding "haunting'" to me... ). I chose an extract and watched and listened - which required a great effort from me- but sorry, I couldn't find any form of 'harmony' wherever... A very subjective opinion of this.... but your text was great!

Hello all!

Thank you for what you said about my text! I can understand that people don't like SF films or books. Especially this one, which is not the most optimistic about the future of mankind !
But it is more than just another SF movie, and I would like to tell a few words about this amazing final scene, which is known as 'the tears in rain monologue'. You can find it on You tube: there is a fight between the Blade runner (Harison Ford) and Roy Batty, the last Android who still has to be retired. The latter is about to die, and he can feel it; however, he could kill the Blade runner very easily, but he loves life so much that he finally chooses to let him alive, saying :

'I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhause gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.' (And actually his head falls on his shoulder, end of the Adroid...)
I love this scene for the nostalgia it shows about what is lost with us when we die: what we saw, what we loved, all the good moments we had during our lives... « all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain »
It is a very powerful moment! Maybe I'd rather have written about it...

As for the word 'harmony', I meant that the music was in harmony with the film, often dark and gloomy, but sometimes more poetic and lighter, like in this last scene...
