un homme affamé

Bonsoir tout le monde,
In french you say: J'ai faim. "Faim" is a noun.
In English you say: I am hungry. "Hungry" is "adverb". You can say: "a hungry man". But I find it very strange, that the adverb from "faim" is "affamé" - un homme affamé" Is there a reason that the adverb of faim is a totally different word then the noun-word faim?

Sorry, I answer in French because I don't speak English.
En français :
avoir faim = expression
avoir peur, avoir honte ....
L'adverbe de faim n'est pas affamé.
Affamé = adjectif
peur = nom
peureux = adjectif
honte = nom
honteux = adjectif
En français, un adjectif n'est pas systématiquement(comme en anglais ou en néerlandais) un adverbe.

Mercie pour votre réponse. I made a little mistake ofcourse "hungry" is not an adverb, but an adjectif. so, the adjectif of faim is faimeux ( or affamé)!

Je crois que tu as fais une similitude avec (honte/honteux)et (peur/peureux) pour déduire l'adjectif "faimeux" du nom faim mais cette forme n'existe pas, l'adjectif de faim est affamé

Et il en existe d'autres! tous ne sont pas construits sur le système eur-eux.
La peur - peureux
La soif - assoiffé/e
La joie - joyeux/se
La jalousie - jaloux/se
La beauté - beau (belle)au pluriel, beau=beaux
La rapidité - rapide
La capacité - capable
La douceur - doux (douce au féminin)
La chaleur - chaud/e
La grandeur - grand/e
Comme tu vois, l'adjectif ne change pas forcément du masculin au féminin.
C'est un très grand chapitre

Et comme rien n'est jamais simple, c'est parfois
l'adjectif qui sert à forme un nom : rapide ---) rapidité
le nom qui sert à former l'adjectif : grand ---) grandeur
C'est à partir du radical que l'on forme les mots. Et si le mot provient du latin, vous pouvez même avoir deux radicals.
Le chapitre est vaste et mériterait des dizaines de tests.
